Christmas in July

I had the pleasure of working with some new ribbons from Renaissance Ribbons - I snagged some of the Adventale ribbon collection by Katarina Roccella and decided to make some quick gift bags using some scrap fabric I had left over from quilt backs.

I used the hot cocoa bag pattern by Sew Can She and they're a lot bigger than a packet of hot chocolate.... they fit an entire frog plus some. But I love them!

The first one I made uses Alison Glass fabric and the skinny striped ribbon

I asked my son to gather up some things to fit it in and he came back with a tiny Totoro, a cookie cutter, a pencil, small notebook, and sunglasses.

The second bag I paired the Merry & Bright with trees, because it just makes sense. I did alter the pattern a smidge; added another inch on top and a second casing for the ribbons because I had a hard time threading both around each other on the first bag.

This one he grabbed pinking shears, a pen, a dino nugget magnet, a post it note stack, my glasses case, phone, earbuds, and a very angry frog. All fit just fine with a little room to spare 😂

This was a quick fun project and the first thing I've made on my machine in months!!

I am delighted with them and plan to make a few more - as soon as I find some scraps big enough to work with the gnomes and the lovely floral I still have a smidge of.
