May Recap

May went quickly & so much happened this month!

I thought I'd start including my monthly stats here since where I typically post them is going through some major changes.
You can snag your own copy of this checklist by clicking here

Quilts Started - 2
Quilt Tops Made - 3
Quilts Quilted - 2
Bound & Photographed - 3
Total Quilt Finishes for 2022 - 16 (some are left overs from last year & that is on a different sheet)

Patterns Released - Scrap Sampler
Donations Made - $132 🥳

I donate 15% of pattern sales each month to a different charity & for May I chose Save the Children. $82 was donated 5/31
I also am having a sale on finished quilts & all fabric until June 11.  So far I've donated $50 (all donations were tripled in May) to Moms Demand Action.
The plan is to donated weekly until the sale is over.

Over on Instagram I posted three quilts as a fundraiser & all three ended up bringing in $1,400 - once tripled that is a whopping $4,200!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that I've done all that housekeeping & talking, here's some pretty pictures of the quilts I worked on this month!!
Both main focuses were teacher quilts (my son actually had seven teachers this year, but we picked the two main ones - homeroom & math/reading to gift to)
I did also make the top of my Scrap Sampler even though the QAL is still going on. (I was on a roll & forgot to stop!!)

His homeroom teacher (the one who spent the most time with him) got a blue & green Ohio is For Lovers throw.
I put flannel on the back because this is Wisconsin & it gets cold here.

His math/reading teacher got an apple quilt!
The pattern is Red Delicious and this one was mostly made from my stash.

I have a new pattern in the works that I'm planning to release near the end of June.  It is fat quarter friendly, although I'm working on a scrap version as well.  It doesn't translate as nicely into scraps for once, but I'm determined to make it work!

I will be working on two commission quilts in June!
I usually only accept one every other month, but these are left overs from last year that needed some extra time to get things ready (one is a memory quilt & I understand how hard it can be to go through things once someone is gone)

Also I was chosen as an Aurifil Artisian this year!!!
So I will be working on an challenge project each month.  June is an easy one to start things off, so I will be combining the new pattern with what Aurifil has asked.

  • Oh my, how much you’ve made! I keep trying to get motivated but can’t seem to. I love the teacher gifts. What a lovely big heart you have. I am sure that all the teachers will want to have your young one in class next year!
