Week Two - Scrap Sampler
Welcome to week two.
We have had almost 50 more people join the QAL over the last week & I am so glad to have you here!

We are working our way from the biggest scraps to the smallest, so this week we are tackling Hourglass blocks.
There are a few different ways to make these blocks but I prefer using two sets (matching or not) of HST.
This is the two different sets of HST sewn together to make Hourglass blocks, made for my first version. I'm not overly fond of them since they don't seem to POP as much as I want.
They're not as defined as I'd like, so I made sure to keep the sets together for the second version I made.
I'm making an ombre rainbow version for this QAL so I've got six different coloured blocks - here's my favorite two!
I used a different method for making these to make sure that my directional prints stayed going the right way.
Instead of making half square triangles, I cut each individual square diagonally in both directions, made sure the prints were going the right way, set them out to sew & went at it.
I did not have to cut any extra pieces this way, either!
If making the Baby Quilt you'll need four block
If making the Throw Quilt you'll need six blocks
If making the Bed Quilt you'll need nine blocks
If you're making a different size, refer to your diagrams!
Can you tell I really like this block!? I just think they're so fun & versatile.
If you missed last week you can check out the post about it here
If you want to be eligible for the giveaway, you must be over 18, have a physical address, post your finished hourglass blocks #ScrapSamplerQuilt over on Instagram.
This week I'm giving away some cute tools - a seam ripper from Modern American Vintage, a magnetic pin dish from Hemline Gold, and a binding baby from Doohikey Designs!
