Ex QAL - Week One

Welcome to the first quilt along I've hosted in over a year! This one is going to be a quick one, just during October.

This week we are choosing fabric and cutting right away. 

If you're using yardage this will go SO quickly - and scraps are so worth the extra time needed. 

I'm making a scrap version this time around (not rainbow gradient, just cute) and I've settled on four colours: black for the background, pink for my pluses, purple for the centers and low volume for the sashing. I haven't decided on a backing yet and I'm not sure if it'll be yardage or a party!

Here's some mock ups - a mix of scrappy and fat quarters.

I'll be sharing both my yardage and scrap versions.
For yardage I'm cutting from Silver (background), Corn Yellow (plus), Papaya (centers),  Citrus (sashing pluses), Lemon (cornerstones) and School Bus (border)

For scraps it's a mishmash. 

I'm getting a mini head start on assembly - I'm just laying them out for now and I'll set aside the stack of ready to sew so I can work on other things before next week.
